The new Tesla Model 3 Performance is here, and if you haven’t heard about it yet, people are talking about the spec sheet. For starters, the Performance variant now stands as the most powerful offering in the Model 3 lineup. A glimpse at the numbers reveals 453 bhp, capable of hitting the 62 mph mark in a commendable 3.1 seconds. It also reaches a top speed of 163 mph, which is impressive.

Powering the vehicle is a 75 kWh battery that, according to Tesla, consumes less energy compared to the previous Model 3 Performance versions. On a full charge, the car will deliver a range of 328 miles.

There are plenty of changes underneath as well. The list of standard equipment has grown to include a performance-tuned chassis that increases stiffness and comes along with stabilizer bars, springs, and bushings over the Standard Model 3. Also on offer are new track-ready brakes sitting behind a set of 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.

Brownie points come in the form of Tesla’s Track Mode System, which allows the driver to customize stability levels, handling balance, and regenerative braking. For the first time ever, this variant also introduces Tesla’s Adaptive Damping to the Model 3 lineup.

In terms of design, Tesla has opted for a technical approach. Most changes aim to improve the aerodynamics of the car, with the addition of new cooling ducts and a carbon fiber spoiler that optimizes lift balance and high-speed stability.

Inside, the Model 3 Performance comes equipped with sport seats and new carbon fiber trim detailing. Dominating the dash, as before, is the 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system that lets you operate the sat-nav and entertainment, such as movies and games, along with a few car functionalities.

Summary

Tesla has opened orders for the car on its official website, with the first batch expected to reach customers during the second quarter of 2024. On paper, the Tesla Model 3 Performance does sound like a good proposition. The 0-62 mph time is sure to bury you in the seat, and the expanded list of standard features has the potential to invite customers who are planning to enter the EV space today.
