2024 Honda CBR650R, CB650R to Get E-Clutch in the UK
3 min readHonda has planned quite a rejig to its range in 2024. While the 500s make do with new names, the 650-range is all set to get the brand’s clever new lutch system. The company has put out the prices of both motorcycles with the CB650R costing £7,799, and the E-Clutch edition asking a premium of just £100 at £7,899. Similarly, the CBR650R, which is priced at £8,599, will get an option of E-clutch for £100 more. Honda has confirmed the E-Clutch will be available with dealers by this April.
2024 Honda CBR650R – A Refresher
The 2024 Honda CB650R came as a significant step-up from the outgoing model. Additionally, Honda also eased the burden on the CBR650R’s shoulders as its primary middle-weight offering, all thanks to the CBR600R.
The CBR650R and its streetfighter sibling are the first four-cylinder engines in Honda’s portfolio to get the new E-Clutch tech. We are not yet sure if the same will trickle down to models sitting at lower rungs. For those worried, Honda is, of course, offering the duo with a manual transmission as well. However, riders must note that the convenience comes at a cost in terms of weight, with the respective models weighing 2kg more.
Mechanically, the 2024 CB650R gets the same 94-bhp and 46lb ft of torque. The company will also offer an option for an A2-compliant version, restricted at 47bhp. Both options will be underpinned by the same chassis, including a 41mm Showa unit at the front, rear monoshock with a 10-stage-adjustable preload, four-piston calipers that bite down on dual 310mm front discs, and a single 240mm rear disc. At the front, the 2024 Honda CBR650R gets a 120/70 R17 wheel with a 180/55 R17 at the back.
In terms of electronic trickeries, the motorcycle benefits from the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The connectivity suite comes in the form of the Honda RoadSync app alongside a five-inch TFT display (new for 2024).
We are expecting the manual transmission version to be available in early 2024 with the E-Clutch variant expected to hit the markets in Spring.
2024 Honda CB650R – A Refresher
The 2024 Honda CB650R is essentially a CBR650R minus the fairing and with cafe racer styling. This means you get the same 94bhp, 46lb ft, a Showa SFF-BP front fork, and 17-inch wheels. The weight increment for the E-Clutch is the same as its faired sibling at 2kg when compared to the manual transmission variant.
For 2024, Honda is offering the CB650R in ‘Matt Laurel Green Metallic’ and ‘Pearl Smokey Gray’, both with silver detailing. Furthermore, Honda has also updated the existing ‘Candy Chromosphere Red’ and ‘Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic’ with new ‘Matt Crypton Silver Metallic’ details.
Summary
Honda’s 2024 lineup sees the 650-range, including the CB650R and CBR650R, enhanced with a new E-Clutch system, priced at a mere £100 premium. The CB650R and CBR650R, known for their four-cylinder engines, mark Honda’s first models to adopt this tech. Despite adding 2kg in weight, the E-Clutch option promises added convenience without compromising the bikes’ performance, boasting 94 bhp and robust torque. Additionally, Honda ensures variety in aesthetics with new color options. The manual version is set to release early in 2024, followed by the e-clutch variant in Spring, signaling an exciting evolution for Honda enthusiasts.
